Today is our eighth wedding anniversary. It’s hard to believe nearly a decade has gone by. In my head, I’m still twenty-something … though my aching back and crow’s feet sometimes give me a sharp reality check.
If you’ve read any of my earlier posts, you might recall that in these last eight years we’ve moved no less than four times and done major renovations on three of those houses. At the same time, we’ve had two kids, both of whom were lulled to sleep by the sounds of belt sanders and nail guns. Together, we’ve experienced the sadness of loosing a parent, the anxiety of changing jobs, and the joy of welcoming children.
When I look back at our wedding photos, I don’t just see the flowers and the big dress, the friends and family. I see our lives as there were then, with the highs and the lows, the laughter, the loss, and the love still yet to come.
The photos below are some of my favourites.
They aren’t just images from that one day, but scenes from the story of our life together, just as it started to unfold.
